Merriam-Webster’s Definition of value:

2) the monetary worth of something

Our goal at Protectus Security is to be the security provider of choice in the region by providing our clients with the best technology and customer service while operating with integrity in all we do.  Because we only use the best hardware, software, technicians, etc., we are not always the cheapest option, but we provide excellent service for a fair price.  In other words, we provide a good value. Many companies focus on  trying to be the cheapest company out there, so sometimes we get asked why other companies offer cheaper monitoring, which is a question we enjoy answering and we thought it would be worth writing a blog about.

Let’s start with the example of a buying a hamburger from a restaurant.  On one end of the spectrum you can get a hamburger from McDonald’s for $.99 and on the other end of the spectrum you can get one like the one I recently got from Rapscallion’s for closer to $15 (and boy was it a good one!).  While it is true that both of these are hamburgers, no one would expect them to be the same price.  Nor would you expect them to taste the same. Why not? Simply put, the more expensive burger had better quality ingredients and came with a better environment and service. This helps illustrate the three factors that go into determining something’s value: quality, service and price. Generally speaking, you can’t be the best in all three of these categories. Typically if you strive for good quality and service, your price will be higher than if you simply try to offer the lowest price.  Conversely, if you focus strictly on offering the lowest price for something you won’t be able to offer the best quality and service.

Hopefully this somewhat silly illustration helps to show the vast differences that there can be between products or services that fall in the same category. It is easy for consumers to think that all security systems are basically the same, and simply look for the company with the cheapest price. Well we’re here to tell you that like hamburgers, not all security systems and companies are created equal. There are four major factors that differ from one company to another: the hardware, software, monitoring station, and customer service.

Hardware – As with a hamburger or a car, your security system will only be as good as the parts that make it up.  We are committed to providing our clients with the best security technology available.

Software – There are now apps that allows you to arm and disarm your security system remotely and receive text message notifications for system events.  Many companies still don’t provide an app, and some use apps that are not well-designed or are buggy. Why not take advantage of the latest technology, and get an app that is well-designed and user friendly?

Monitoring – Not all monitoring stations have the same standards, and when it comes to your security you don’t want to compromise. Our clients experience the peace of mind that comes with being professionally monitored by a 24×7 5-Diamond rated monitoring station.

Customer Service – We’ve all had good customer service experiences as well as our fair share of bad ones.  How can you know in advance what to expect? Getting recommendations from people you trust is a good place to start. In addition to asking friends and family for feedback there are many useful online tools as well.  We are proud to have a 5-star rating with Yelp, Google and Facebook.

You may be able to find a cheaper security company, but we doubt you’ll find one with that uses better technology, has better customer service, or has a better reputation! Contact us today to find out how Protectus can protect you!
